Not Your Momma’s Pumpkin Pie

Ok…so this actually is my mom’s pumpkin pie recipe. But, if you want to take it literally the title holds true (unless, of course, you are my brother reading this). As for the pumpkin pie recipe itself, despite all of its traditional elements, it is the originality of a few components that makes this pie stand out.  And by stand out, I mean it is the most delicious pumpkin pie you will ever eat.

I know that “Best Pumpkin Pie Ever” is a tall claim for a classic like pumpkin pie. Your Mom, cousin, aunt, and local pie joint may have staked claim to the title of “Best Pumpkin Pie”. (which is kind of like claiming “World’s Best Coffee”) But, I warn you that this recipe really is worthy of such a title. If a single bite of pumpkin pie – which may have addictive combinations of deliciousness – could render you incapable of ceasing to eat a pie and still hunger for more. Then there must be something to it to make it addictive-ly amazing (and no there is nothing illegal in it…unless being delicious is illegal…and then this blog will definitely not be of help to you.) So, you may be asking yourself by now, what is so great about this particular pie recipe? What sort of mixture of ingredients really gets this pie the #1 spot?

Before I answer those gnawing questions. I want you to close your eyes and imagine exactly how a pumpkin pie should taste. Think about the spices and smells, the taste and texture of a perfect pumpkin pie. Now, what if I told you to imagine that pie with a crumbly graham cracker crust. And, of course, spices with just enough sweet and just enough creamy goodness that makes the perfect pie. That yummy imagining is this pie. Now, take a deep breath. Smile. And get ready for pie addiction.
