Drops of rain still cling to our deck windows. Glistening with the colors of golden orange as the sun makes its way over the horizon. With a freshly brewed cup of tea in my hand, I gaze outside and watch as a hummingbird flitters around our feeder and then dissapears. (Probably to our neighbor’s…they have at least 3 hummingbird feeders of their own). As I enjoy the fresh, new sunlight I overhear the weather forecast…90s today. Yikes. Time to get outside now before it turns into another scorcher. So, what does one do with hot, humid days? Find my favorite, cool, refreshing drinks! Here are a few I thought I would share that I found to look refreshing, cooling, and delicious!
Fresh Blackberry Lemonade from Love and Olive Oil. This recipe is super easy and sounds delicious. I was perusing good lemonade combos and when I stumbled across this one, I knew it would be a must drink for later today. I was also wondering if you froze this, it might turn out to be a yummy popsicle. (Let me know if you think that would work…I’ve never tried) I also liked this post a lot because I love the glass used in the featured photo, so cute! I love the birds. If any of you had seen the wedding shower invites we made, they have 2 little birds on them…so I am a little obsessed. Anyways, try this one out! And stay cool!
Raspberry Limeade Slushies from Smitten Kitchen. Who can say “no” to slushies? I know I certainly can’t! I can still remember when my brother and I would grab our bikes from the garage and scrape up our money from chores and race up to the local gas station to get blue raspberry slushies. Now that I’m older, I may have outgrown the blue slushie (ok, maybe I still drink it every now and then) but this Raspberry and Limeade Slushie looks both delicious and able to suit my ‘grown’ pallete. I can’t wait to try this one out!
Fresh Fig and Banana Milkshake from Pinch My Salt. This interesting combination of figs and bananas caught my eye. We always seem to have leftover bananas at our place, so I am always looking for a good way to use them up. This recipe combines fresh figs, bananas, milk and honey. Sounds like my kind of way to start out the day! (Now to fish out those frozen bananas!)
Sun Tea in a Jar from Gimme Some Oven. I love tea. A lot. This is a great tip for all you tea lovers out there who want to make sun tea (but not a giant pitcher full!!). We are usually hot tea drinkers, so it has been a challenge for me to get to a point to making iced teas. So, sun teas, here I come! I can’t wait to use this helpful tip! I might even make a few different jars of my favorite teas so that I can have a variety to choose from. Do I hear a tea-tasting party coming on??
There are several more links out there for delicious summer beverages. So, I hope you all enjoy these few that I found. All of which I will be making in the near future (thanks to you, sun). But, mostly thanks to these amazing recipe ideas. Ok, I have to go fill up on some tasty beverages…my mouth has been watering for way too long while writing this post!!)
